Overview

The EnergyMasters Refrigeration Specialist Accreditation recognises individuals who have demonstrated best practice design and operation of commercial and industrial heating systems with respect to energy performance.

Membership of EMANZ or the Institution of Professional Engineers NZ (IPENZ) is not mandatory for Accreditation. However, if you are already an IPENZ or EMANZ accredited professional you will not have to complete some aspects of the assessment process, because all IPENZ and EMANZ Members undergo checks  relevant to EnergyMasters Accreditation.

Requirements

The minimum requirements for accreditation include demonstrating to the Refrigeration Assessor that you have general competence in comprehending technical concepts and applying systematic scientific methods to problem solving related to refrigeration systems design and operation.

Membership of an IPENZ Practice College or registration on a relevant current competence register is helpful in demonstrating general competence. Current work experience in the industrial sector with an emphasis on refrigeration systems is most important.

The Refrigeration Assessor will want evidence of your:
  • Sufficient qualifications in thermodynamics
  • Relevant broad work experience
  • Refrigeration systems design and operational experience.
  • A Type 3 report (audit, or equivalently challenging documentation) applicable to an existing refrigeration improvement programme. Your report should include detailed explanations and calculations to provide evidence of your decision making. (plesae ensure you read the Refrigeration Specialist Applicant's Guide around supplying calculations etc as this is an important area for the assessor)
If you are unable to submit a Type 3 Refrigeration Systems Audit report, you may submit a Type 2 Energy Audit as defined in AS/NZS 3598.2:2014 for assessment to obtain provisional accreditation until you have carried out a Type 3 Refrigeration Systems Audit. All forms and related evidence should be submitted to EMANZ for processing.

This accreditation is based on the Refrigeration Systems Audit Standard
